Living La Vida Local in Hove

Living La Vida Local in Hove

JACQUI’S LIVING LA VIDA LOCAL!

Jacqui Dickinson moved to Hove in June 2017 from South West London.  She’s working with Callaways Lettings Team on Property Management and spends her time about 60:40 in our office in Church Road, and the rest visiting Landlords’ properties.

Jacqui has settled into her new surroundings and tells us about ‘Living La Vida Local’

“Hove has everything that London has, AND MORE, without the stress and hassle!

It was rather like coming home again, as I was born in Sussex, and my mother’s family used to be in Hove.  I moved because I really wanted a change from London and decided to come back to my roots. Moving has been a life changing event!  You can imagine, moving, finding a job, finding my way around everywhere plus getting my flat together while I’ve been here.

I find the people in Hove very friendly, wanting to chat, and VERY dog friendly – this is really important for me because I wanted my black Staffie, Rexy (who has his own website www.everyonelovesrexy.com ) to settle in quickly too!

Obviously I have my favourite places in Hove, and here’s my first 6 months’ selection:

The Meeting Place Cafe on Hove seafront – it’s a perfect welcome for an ice-cream when I’m walking Rexy, who also enjoys a lick of ice-cream, as a very special treat.  I’ll go there most weekends and walk along the prom.

Baked on Church Road – they’re practically our neighbours where I work at Callaways – they do amazing coffee (I love flat whites) amazing bagels (cheese and ham toasted) and the atmosphere is very friendly, welcoming and I feel very much a part of the community.

Archipelagos Greek Restaurant in Western Road – near my home – I love all things Greek, and it’s an amazing place for lunch or dinner – but always book as they’re very busy!  The Greek wines are worth tasting and I generally have the house specials.

The Market – a fantastic tapas and cocktail restaurant – on Western Road, again close to home – there’s a super atmosphere, the cocktails are delicious, and the tapas too, and the staff make you feel very special.

I simply LOVE The Lanes, and considering I shopped in London for many years, the Lanes offer a complete diversity of items, clothes, food, restaurants, bars, cafes.  There’s something for everybody.  I love window shopping too!

Another place I enjoy going to is on the top of the racecourse in Woodingdean, where I go walking with Rexy – the views are amazing, there’s so much space, and I get to chat to other dog-walkers, and Rexy can play with his new found friends.

Of course, I wasn’t close to the seafront when I lived in London, so I particularly love Hove Lawns, watching the waves, and the dogs running in and out of the sea.

My ideal would be to have a little beach hut on the seafront where Rexy and I could watch the world go by and Rexy could say hello to everyone.

Every weekend since moving to Hove, friends and family have visited and they too love everything about Hove!  I’ve hardly had time to breathe, but I simply LOVE HOVE and am truly living LA VIDA LOCAL!”
