Are you moving in the next three months? Choose your Estate Agent carefully to get the best value, and to sell within your time-scales.

Once January is over, and the Spring Home-Selling season is getting closer, you may be looking to move because of a growing family, or downsizing now the children have flown the nest.

Once summer is on the horizon, you may be looking for a home closer to schools, shops, or seafront.  If you wish to move into your new property before Christmas, then start planning in August or early September.  How do you begin to choose your Estate Agent, unless, like me, you’ve become a ‘professional’ mover over the years?

Brighton & Hove has many Estate Agents to choose from, corporate, family and independent Sales Agents.

Most people agree that you should ask three agents at least to value your property.  Why?  To get a consistent and professional opinion on the value of your current home.  Also you should compare the services offered.  And last, but not least, ask some very important questions, which I’ve prepared for you to help you with your choice.

Undercover Agent
  1. Ask for recommendations or referrals from friends and family
  2. Invite at least three local agents to value your property
  3. Check industry credentials eg NAEA / ARLA Propertymark / RICS
  4. Go undercover and do your research
  5. Decide whether you want to go sole or multi-agency
  6. Read the Terms and Conditions of the agreement
  7. Review your agent’s performance, reviews and specialisms in the industry
